SBA app
Survival Branch Appliance (SBA) app
When the line to the hosted PBX goes down, the gateway that is already on site takes over the calls.
A branch office on a hosted PBX has one dependency it cannot fix locally: the connection to the data centre. When the VPN drops, the internet uplink fails or the main system goes down for maintenance, the phones in the building stop working — not just for outside calls, but for calling the room next door.
The SBA app closes that gap with hardware that is already there. Installed on the beroNet gateway or SBC that terminates the site’s lines, it waits in the background. When the main system stops answering, the local telephones register with the beroNet device instead and keep working: internal calls, hold, transfer, call groups, and outgoing calls over a SIP trunk or the gateway’s own PSTN or LTE ports.
It is deliberately small. The SBA app is a fallback, not a second phone system to maintain — up to twenty users depending on the device, configured from a CSV file that can usually be exported from the main system and imported without retyping anything. That keeps the maintenance cost of the fallback close to zero, which is what makes it survive in practice.
Installation is one click from the beroNet Market on the device, or a push from beroCloud for a whole fleet. It does not care which PBX the main system is.
